BlueHammer exploit is a Windows privilege-escalation that targets Microsoft Defender and related Windows services. It uses a race condition (TOCTOU flaw) to let a low-privileged user gain full SYSTEM access on a machine. The exploit became widely known after a security researcher publicly released proof-of-concept code on GitHub, claiming Microsoft was too slow to respond. BlueHammer affected Windows 10, Windows 11, and some Windows Server systems, and security agencies later warned that attackers were actively exploiting it in the wild. ( AI )
