The City of Los Angeles has become the latest high-profile target of a sophisticated cyber extortion campaign, with threat actors allegedly claiming to have exfiltrated a staggering 7.7 terabytes of data comprising 337,377 files from municipal systems.
The group behind the attack, WorldLeaks, listed the city on its dark web leak site on March 20, 2026, marking one of the most significant municipal data breach claims in recent U.S. history

this are 2 small samples of LAPD records, including officer personnel files and documents from Internal Affairs investigations, are among the materials believed to have been seized in the breach.
